Why reform?
Mental health reform is achievable, necessary and has widespread community support.
- It is achievable because within Australia we have models of early intervening, community based care that we now know work better and are more economically viable than our current service system.
- It is necessary because mental health is expected to continue to grow as a proportion of Australia's burden of disease and the already creaking acute-hospital model of care simply cannot take any more
- It has community support because Australians are becoming increasingly aware of their mental health and are expecting more from a system that regularly lets them down
You can help achieve mental health reform by taking action right now.
